Driving Permit and Eyesight Requirements
- License: All students are required to hold a valid UK driving licence, either a provisional or full licence. This licence must be presented to the driving instructor either before or during the first lesson. Without a valid licence, students will not be permitted to take lessons.
- Eyesight Test: Students must ensure that they can read a standard vehicle number plate from a distance of 20.5 meters (67 feet). If the student requires corrective lenses, such as glasses or contact lenses, they must be worn during this test and throughout the lessons. Failure to meet this eyesight requirement could result in cancellation of the lesson until the issue is resolved.
Payments and Refund Polic
- Payment Methods: Payment for lessons can be made directly to the instructor either in cash or via debit or credit card (Visa, MasterCard) through the school’s online portal. Payments must be made before the commencement of lessons.
- Booking Discounts: If you book a block of lessons (10 Hours) at a discounted rate, this discount is non-refundable. Should a student decide to cancel their course midway and a refund is agreed upon, the standard hourly rate will be applied to the lessons already taken, and any balance after this deduction will be refunded. Block bookings must be completed within six weeks of the initial payment unless alternative arrangements have been made.
Punctuality
- Student Responsibility: It is in the student’s best interest to be punctual for their driving lessons. The instructor will wait for a maximum of 15 minutes outside the student’s designated pick-up location.
- Late Arrival: If the student is running late, they should inform the instructor as soon as possible. The instructor will attempt to accommodate the delay, but if the student fails to notify the instructor within 15 minutes, the lesson will be charged in full.
Learner’s Comfort and Wellbeing
- Clothing and Footwear: For safety reasons, students should wear appropriate, comfortable clothing and footwear that allows for full range of motion and proper control of the vehicle. Avoid wearing restrictive clothing or footwear, such as flip-flops or heels, that could interfere with your ability to safely operate the car.
- Health Conditions: Students must inform the instructor of any medical conditions or medications that may impair their ability to drive safely. This includes conditions such as epilepsy, fainting, or the use of alcohol or drugs. The instructor reserves the right to cancel lessons if they believe the student is unfit to drive safely.
Driving Test and Use of the Vehicle
- Instructor’s Right to Terminate Lessons: The instructor has the authority to end any lesson if they deem the student to be unfit for driving due to illness, intoxication, or other impairments. This also applies to situations where the student’s clothing or footwear is deemed inappropriate for driving.
- Vehicle Use for Driving Test: The instructor may withhold the use of their vehicle for a driving test if they determine that the student is not up to the test standard. If the student fails to pass a mock test or if their driving poses a risk to the safety of the instructor’s vehicle or public safety, the car will not be made available for the driving test.
- Withdrawal Without Notice: The instructor reserves the right to withdraw the vehicle without prior notice if the student is not ready for the driving test or does not meet the test standards.
- Instructor’s Liability: The instructor will make every effort to ensure the vehicle is in full working order and complies with all legal standards at the start of the test. However, they cannot be held liable for vehicle failure during the test or any consequential losses.
- DVSA Test Cancellations: The instructor is not responsible for cancellations by the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) due to bad weather, staff shortages, illness, or other unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, the lesson and car fees will still be charged. Students are advised to seek compensation directly from the DVSA.

- Public Safety Considerations: Instructors have the right to choose a lesson location that ensures the safety of both the student and the public.
Lesson Cancellations
- Instructor Cancellations: If the instructor needs to cancel a lesson, they will provide at least 48 hours’ notice. In the absence of this notice, the lesson will be rearranged free of charge.

- DVSA Test Cancellations: If a student plans to cancel their DVSA test, they must provide a minimum of 3 days’ notice. Additionally, students must seek the instructor’s approval before registering for a driving test to avoid losing the test fee. If the instructor feels the student is not test-ready within 3 days of booking the test, the instructor has the right to refuse participation in the test.
